A classic Zinfandel blend. Dry Creek Valley is first among equals in Zinfandel growing regions due to its perfect pairing of soils and climate. 82% Zinfandel from four vineyards that epitomize the Dry Creek Valley terroir melds seamlessly with 7% Petite Sirah and 6% Carignane, and 5% Grenache, creating a wine with complexity, depth, and above all, balance.
Blending Zinfandel from four vineyards in Dry Creek Valley creates a classic DCV Zin. Hints of black pepper weave through deep aromas of ripe blackberry mingled with subtle oak and earth notes. The buoyant acidity and solid structure form the backbone of the wine, while the delicious flavors take center stage. Balanced, dark tones of spicy black raspberry merge with traces of dried strawberry and blackberry, while pepper notes appear mid-palate and linger long in to the finish.
Though most of our Zinfandels are made from Dry Creek Valley grapes, our Dry Creek blend, as we refer to it, is a wine that we hope reflects the overall Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel terroir, as opposed to a single-vineyard character. Selecting five vineyards (Funsten, Bradford Mountain Estate, Bernier, Forchini, and West) located throughout the appellation, gives us a cross section of soil types and microclimates within Dry Creek Valley that are reflected in the flavors.
The 2016 growing season was very even and balanced the entire year, right through the harvest, resulting in beautiful and elegant wines that showcase the best of our vineyards.
