Merlot 2013, Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard
Following up on the delicious and very well received 2012 Merlot, we decided to bottle a Merlot from the 2013 vintage. The Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard Merlot in 2013 was sufficiently complex and mouth filling to bottle unblended. Though delicious now, the wine has the intensity and structure to develop the suppleness and bottle bouquet of its “Right Bank” Bordeaux cousins.
As the wine opens, tightly woven aromatics reveal luscious dark cherry, pomegranate, toasted oak, chocolate and a trace of minerality. A solid structure of tannin and oak frame the blend of blackberry, dark cherry and huckleberry laced with cedar and a mineral essence. Buoyant acidity appears mid-palate, balancing the round, juicy flavors. If opened before mid-2017, we recommend decanting before serving.
