It is from favored mountain vineyards that the best wines of California originate. The cuttings for this vineyard were brought when we moved from Mount Eden in the Santa Cruz Mountains in 1980's. This selection was taken by Dr. Rixton in the 1880's from Chateau Margaux and planted at his La Questa Vineyard near Woodside, CA. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Malbec, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot, this is a wine that will give an extra reward to those who have the patience to cellar it.
Rich dark fruit aromas mingle with traces of oak, cedar and wet slate. A smooth entry reveals fresh plush flavors balanced with a supple structure that frames the wine. Dark cherry, boysenberry and black currant are layered with savory cedar and an inviting mineral essence that lingers on the palate.
This is our most terroir-driven wine: a Peterson wine that shouts out its origin with every sip. Our Bradford Mountain vineyards produce wine grapes with a unique and very recognizable minerality. That expression or sense of place reaches its apex in the Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
Food Pairing Notes
This elegant Cab can be enjoyed solo while reading a favorite book or in the company of good friends, but will also pair beautifully with rack of pork with a red currant thyme sauce served with a side of roasted fingerling potatoes.
